Elopement

Elopement

Traditionally, an elopement is when you and your partner get away and get married by yourselves! Either at the Registry Office, or taking time away somewhere to get married alone. There's many reasons couples do this, sometimes nothing than a spur of the moment feeling to go and get hitched!

Nowadays, an elopement is thought of you and a small gathering of your choosing, get married in an intimate ceremony. Intimate weddings and pop-up weddings use this format and are becoming more popular. For some, this aims to keep the cost of the wedding down. Others don't want a large wedding and prefer an intimate setting as their own personal preference.

Elopements are usually catered in packages from 2 to 40 people. You can have all the bells and whistles of a wedding and reception but with a smaller head count. Or, you can have a simple, cost effective wedding with your nearest and dearest. If you're planning your own wedding, take advantage of a smaller ceremony and reception to keep your expenses and time cost down.

Most venues will do elopement/intimate weddings during the week to help keep costs down. Pop-up weddings are usually held at a venue with several couples, each given a time on the day to get married and take photos. Organisers of both type will typically have packages that don't allow many changes, which is great if it suits you. If you want a bit more flexibility, it pays to shop around as other venues will let you add guests, or let you upgrade as you need.

So if you don't want the full large wedding, and your partner is overwhelmed with the wedding plans, then have a serious chat with them about elopements as a better option.
